2025 Community College Month
April is Community College Month, and Madisonville Community College, along with the colleges in the Kentucky Community and Technical College System (KCTCS), celebrate its collective impact on students.
Madisonville Community College (MCC) serves as the initial point of contact with higher education for most in the region. Students attending community college pay less than half the rate of what they would pay at most four-year universities. Access to higher education is more affordable and more accessible due to the financial aid, scholarships, and other support programs offered through all of the KCTCS institutions.
The college offers training to students in various settings, including through in-person and online courses. In the past academic year of 2023-2024, MCC enrolled a total of 5,463 students, including 1,406 dual-credit high school students. In addition, the college awarded a total of 1,747 credentials to graduates in 2023-2024 – an all-time high. Fall 2024 enrollment was reported as 3,569, which is the highest fall total since 2019.
"At Madisonville Community College, we are committed to providing accessible, affordable, and high-quality education that transforms lives and strengthens our communities, said Cindy Kelley, President.
“A community college education is one of the best investments students and families can make. We are proud to be the starting point for so many on their path to success, ensuring they graduate with less debt and more opportunities."
Earlier this year, at the Community College Futures Assembly, the college won the prestigious Bellwether Award for excellence in workforce development programming for the Lisman Workforce Complex in Webster County.
