Madisonville College Foundation Receives $12,000 Grant from the Gene Haas Foundation
The Madisonville College Foundation has received a grant of $12,000 from the Gene Haas Foundation to support students enrolled in CNC technology and CNC machining programs at Madisonville Community College.
“There is a significant need for machinists in our region and these scholarships from the Gene Haas Foundation will help support students as they prepare to enter this rewarding career field,” said Matt Luckett, professor and division chair of applied technology programs.
The donation will provide scholarships for those who need additional financial assistance in the college's recently relaunched associate degree computerized manufacturing and machining program. Students can complete several certifications while working toward completion of the degree program.
“The next generation of machinists at MCC can pursue their passions in the machine shop thanks to the financial support of the Gene Haas Foundation scholarships,” said Austin Tarkington, director of advancement at the college.
Haas Automation Inc. started in 1983, is America's leading builder of CNC machine tools and is now a billion-dollar company. The primary mission of its Gene Haas Foundation is to partner with schools and organizations to expose students to careers in manufacturing and provide the means for them to pursue those opportunities.
