Aseem Talukdar Selected for National Leadership Program
Dr. Aseem Talukdar, professor of physics and astronomy at Madisonville Community College, has been selected for a one-year leadership development program by the Organization of Physics at Two-Year Colleges.
The Organization of Physics at Two-Year Colleges is a National Science Foundation Division of Undergraduate Education funded organization and is supported by the American Association of Physics Teachers with a mission to provide a single venue to improve opportunities for networking, mentoring, professional development, educational research, and educational transformation at community colleges.
This year-long program will start with an in-person commencement conference in New Orleans and will subsequently include online discussions, one in-person conference where the participants will be trained on various leadership strategies, a mentoring program, and a virtual closing conference.
Dr. Talukdar received both a Master of Science and a doctorate in physics from the University of Cincinnati. He joined Madisonville Community College as a physics instructor in 2009 and was promoted to professor in 2020. Dr. Talukdar has been associated with both the Kentucky and the American Association of Physics Teachers for over a decade and has presented at several state and national level conferences. Dr. Talukdar is currently the chair of the mathematics and sciences division at MCC.
