CAMPUS ALERT - INSTITUTIONAL CLOSING

MCC's campuses and facilities will close at noon on Friday, December 20, 2024, and will remain closed until January 3, 2025. We'll reopen on our regular schedule starting Monday, January 6, 2025.

Instructor Qualifications

To teach a dual credit course, secondary school teachers must be approved by the college according to the criteria established by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC) Guidelines for Faculty Credentials and the local college policy. Dual credit faculty must meet the same academic requirements as a faculty member teaching on that college campus.

As a concurrent enrollment faculty member, you’ll need to demonstrate that you meet the necessary teaching qualifications. We will ask you to submit documentation such as:

  • Official college transcript(s)
  • Current CV or resume, or application documenting your teaching and work experience
  • Official documentation of relevant work experience
  • Official documentation of industry certifications or licenses
  • Additional documentation sufficient for SACSCOC compliance as requested by the college

The college determines the qualifications its faculty needs to be eligible to teach a course (be credentialed to teach a course). The qualifications to teach a course may vary from one College to another, and can even vary from one course to the next in the same discipline.

Each college is responsible for verifying that high school instructors meet the college’s qualifications and for maintaining a record of those qualifications (credentials). High school instructors may not teach dual credit courses until the credentialing process is complete. Additionally, the college cannot not add a dual credit course to its course offerings until it has a qualified instructor to teach the course.
