Workforce Assessment

Skills assessments help you ensure a good selection of workers. By opting for pre-employment testing you raise your chances of finding qualified workers for hiring, training, or promotion. Also with pre-employment testing, you will have a better idea of each applicant s knowledge.

We offer several different assessment tools to accommodate your needs.


The HESI Entrance Exam is required to apply to MCC's Nursing Program. The HESI is used nationwide as a tool to help screen applicants.

The HESI A2 consists of both an academic portion and a personality portion. There are eight subtests that make up the academic portion of the exam: math, reading, vocabulary, grammar, biology, physics, anatomy, physiology, and chemistry. The personality portion of the exam consists of two sections: the Learning Style Assessment and the Personality Profile. Not all Nursing Schools choose to make their applicants take all of the sections of the exam. Additionally, each school also maintains their own criteria for admissinos and required minimum scores.


The College-Level Examination Program, or CLEP, provides students of any age with the opportunity to demonstrate college-level achievement through a program of computer exams in undergraduate general education college courses.

The CLEP is a national program of credit-by-examination sponsored by the College Entrance Board. These examinations may be taken at our assessment center. You may earn a maximum of 45 college credits through general or subject exams. We are a recognized CLEP testing center, so CLEP testing is alos available for students from other colleges and universities. Scores may be sent to other institutions for applicable college credit.

Kentucky Department of Insurance Agent Licensing

We offer computer-based examinations from the Kentcuky Department of Insurance Agent Licensing every Tuesday at 10:00 a.m.

Personal Lines

You receive test results upon completion of the exam. All licenses are mailed to new licensees from Kentucky Office of Insurance. All applicants must have a scheduled appointment to sit for the examination(s). A valid, government-issued photo ID is required for testing.

Is required for LPN s looking to pursue their RN degree at MCC. The LPN STEP Proctored Assessment is an insightful pre-admissions tool that consists of an eight topic screening assessment that is based on the NCLEX-PN test plan.

TD Testing

TD Testing is a network of strategic testing locations implemented to assist in providing coverage for the demand of mandatory computerized proctored testing assessments. The testing network provides pre-hire and promotional proctored assessments for several government agencies as well as a vast array of non-government certification programs. These evaluations can include basic cognitive skills, psychological and emotional profiling and other metrics which would be relevant to their position.

WorkKeys Assessments

WorkKeys Assessments include:

  • Applied Mathematics* Measures the skills people use when they apply mathematical reasoning, critical thinking and problem-solving techniques to work-related problems.

  • Locating Information* Measures the skills people use when they work with workplace graphics.

  • Reading for Information* Measures the skills people use when they read and use written text in order to do a job.

These are required for the National Career Readiness Certificate (NCRC): Applied Mathematics, Locating Information, and Reading for Information.

  • Applied Technology Measures the skills people use when they solve problems with machines and equipment found in the workplace.

  • Observation Measures the skills people use when they pay attention to and remember work-related instructions, demonstrations and procedures.

  • Teamwork Measures the skills people use for choosing behaviors that both lead toward the accomplishment of work tasks and support the relationships between team members.

  • Listening Measures the skills that people use when they receive verbal information in the workplace and relay it to another person.

  • Writing Measures the skills individuals use when they write messages that relay workplace information between people.

  • Personal Skills Assessment (Web-based)

  • Performance Use this prescreening test to measure a job applicant s tendency toward unsafe behaviors and attitudes toward work.

  • Talent Use it to predict characteristics such as cooperation, discipline, influence and stability.

  • Fit Find out job applicants interests and values to determine the fit between a candidate and occupations in an organization

    *Tests required for the nationally recognized Career Readiness Certificate (NCRC)

National Occupational Competency Testing Institute

NOCTI s industrial tests are designed to measure an individual s knowledge of competencies related specifically to industrial occupations. As with the Experienced Worker tests, these tests are intended for evaluating individuals with a combination of education, training and work experience.

NOCTI offers more than 70 standardized occupational assessments as well as customized testing. Some Test Categories include: Industrial Electricity, General Maintenance, Industrial Electronics, Industrial Maintenance Technician, Industrial Maintenance Mechanic, Maintenance Mechanic, Electricity/Electronics, Mechanical Maintenance, Electrical/Electronics Maintenance, Welding General Industrial/Mechanical. These tests are given on the computer.

Bennett Mechanical Test

The Bennett Mechanical Test measures mechanical aptitude.

Wonderlic Personnel Test

The Wonderlic Personnel Test is a 12 minute assessment that measures a variety of basic skills.

Myers-Briggs Type Indicator

The Myers-Briggs Type Indicator assesses personality types for leadership development, personnel management, team-building, and other situations
