Miner Training
Madisonville Community College (MCC) offers the MSHA required Basic Mine Safety and Health Training for new miners with no mining experience for underground (40hr) and surface (24hr) operations. MCC also offers the Annual 8hr Refresher Safety and Health Training course required for all miners.

MERA - Mine Emergency Response Academy
In addition MCC also offers a Mining Technology Associate in Applied Science. The Mining Technology program focuses on the knowledge needed to succeed in the coal mining industry. Emphasis is given to the statutory rights and safety procedures in all offerings, including the self-rescuer device, transportation controls, communication controls, mining conditions, mining methods, and mining cycle.

Classes for Initial Underground (40 hour) and Initial Surface (24 hour) Miner Training are offered on a regular basis through Madisonville Community College Workforce Solutions department.
Class fees are $75 for Surface mining and $100 for Underground mining. Payment must be made at the time of registration with debit or credit card, money order or cash.
