Theres Still Time to Register for Summer Youth College

MADISONVILLE, Ky.(July 6, 2009) The MCC Community Education Office will hold Summer Youth College for students entering 3rd through 6th grades July 13-16 from 8:30 a.m.-12 p.m.

Students will choose three classes from the following courses:

It s a Kodak Moment
Students will shadow a professional photographer and learn the tricks of the trade. The basics of photography will be taught while students experiment with portrait, nature, and action shots. Students will also take photos of classmates using professional backdrops, lights, and props. Students are asked to bring a digital camera, a limited number of cameras will be available.

Life is So Magnetic
This class is for the student who likes to solve great mysteries and investigate the weird and unusual. Students will conduct hair-raising experiments that explore invisible forces of magnetism.

Duct Tape Clothing
Students will learn about the history of clothing and combine this knowledge with the powers of duct tape to create truly amazing articles of clothing. Students will go home with something to wear.

Hands Up For America
Students will learn the origin of America s patriotic songs and will learn how to sign the songs with their hands. They will explore black light performing and learn about our great country. Students will be able to perform for family and friends when the week is over.

The Whole World s a Stage
Students who enjoy movies, music, and the theater won t want to miss out on this class. Our experienced instructor will help students hone their acting and performance skills.

Marvelous Mosaics
An accomplished artist will teach students to create something beautiful and unique with the art of mosaics. Students will use their imagination, colorful tiles, and lots of grout to create a beautiful stepping stone that they can display or give to someone special.
