MCC hosts Skills USA Competition

Madisonville Community College (MCC) hosted a local SkillsUSA Competition on Friday, February 22, 2013. Participating schools included Caldwell County High School, Christian County High School, Webster County High School, as well as the MCC Welding Program. SkillsUSA is a national organization serving high school and college students enrolled in training programs in technical, skilled, and service occupations. It emphasizes total quality at work, high ethical standards, superior work skills, life-long education and pride in the dignity of work. SkillsUSA competitions build and reinforce self-confidence, work attitudes and communications skills of the participants

Competing in the SkillsUSA Welding competition were: Clayton Adams, Justin Adams, and Shaylako Bourland from Caldwell County High School; Jacob Lashley and Brandon Beveridge from Christian County High School; J. T. Beckner and Justin Hook from Webster County High School; and Hunter Eustice, Zach Higgins, Miles Carter, Chase Oldham, and Tommy Greer from MCC. Clayton Adams took first place in the Welding competition followed by Brandon Beveridge in second place and Justin Adams in third place.

Competing in the SkillsUSA Machine Tool competition were: Matt Tucker and Patrick Jones from Christian County High School; and Andrew Proctor and Travis Sweet from Webster County High School. First place winner was Matt Tucker with Travis Sweet placing second and Patrick Jones taking third place.
