HTM 100 - Healthcare Technology Management Profession offered in Spring 2014 Semester

HEALTHCARE TECHNOLOGY MANAGEMENT COURSE OFFERED IN SPRING SEMESTER

Madisonville Community College (MCC) will be offering HTM 100 - The Healthcare Technology Management Profession as an in-person class in the spring 2014 semester. Taught by Professor Joey Jones, this 1 credit-hour course offers insight into the profession of Healthcare Technology Management (HTM) regarding career opportunities, job expectations, and professional growth.

The Healthcare Technology Management program is an excellent choice for those wanting to pursue a career in healthcare but want to avoid direct patient contact. HTM professionals work in a variety of settings and for a variety of service providers including hospitals, clinics, ambulatory care centers, home medical equipment companies, medical equipment manufactures, and medical equipment service providers. HTM professionals repair, maintain, and manage all types of medical equipment and systems. They use a wide variety of test equipment to assure that medical technology is performing as intended, and when it is not working properly, make the necessary repairs and calibrations to assure that equipment is safe and effective for patient care. The HTM field is expected to grow as the need for healthcare services continues to grow due to the increasing aging population. In fact, the US government has identified the HTM field as being one having a "bright outlook in terms of rapid job growth.

Interested individuals are invited to visit the HTM classroom/laboratory to learn more about the variety of medical technologies available for use by students as part of their training experience.
