Frymire Family Professional Award Series Announced for 2013-2014

FRYMIRE FAMILY PROFESSIONAL AWARD SERIES ANNOUNCED FOR 2013-2014

Madisonville Community College s Advancement Office is pleased to announce that $9,800 has been reserved for the Frymire Family Professional Award Series during the 2013-2014 academic year. Honoring Richard and Phyllis Frymire for their long history of contributions to the college, this endowment supports full-time employee professional development projects through fund awards from the endowment s interest income. Judge Frymire served as the General Chairman of the five year Partners in Progress campaign that concluded in 1999 with the establishment of the Quality Endowment. A percentage of the Quality Endowment is permanently reserved for the Frymire Family Professional Award Series.

The Frymire Family Professional Award Series provides flexible professional development options for various academic endeavors, particularly activities associated with natural sciences, mathematics, humanities, student counseling/ advising, and support of employees pursuing masters and doctoral degrees. The maximum annual award per employee is $1,200. Some of the 2013-2014 awards include support for:
- Faculty members to attend national conferences relating to curriculum areas
- Administrative coordinators to attend specific job-related training at in-state conferences.
- Administrative staff completing their bachelor s degree from Murray State University.
- MCC s Director of Financial Aid to attend a job-related conference in Jacksonville sponsored by the U.S. Department of Education.
- Humanities Professor to attend area conferences and seminars to expand the college s current Library Reading Series that is funded by the Hamman Family Endowment.
- Glema Mahr Center for the Arts Director and Technical Director to attend the Southern Arts Association s annual conference in Nashville.

MCC s Director of Advancement John Peters notes, The MCC Advancement Office hopes to secure additional cash and estate gifts for the Quality Endowment over the next 2 5 years and to have $1 million in total endowment principle by 2017, including $325,000 to permanently support professional development awards. Besides the Frymire Family Professional Award Series, the Quality Endowment also supports technology purchases for the Joe C. Davis Science Building and the Brown Badgett, Sr. Energy amp; Advanced Technology Center, tutorial services at the Muhlenberg Campus P.A. and Pauline Shaver Center, funding for the college s comprehensive Career Advancement Center, and increased support for the Common Reader Program.
