BONE MARROW DONOR RECRUITMENT DRIVES AT MCC AIM TO SAVE LIVES

Cancer is a random killer. It can strike any one of us at any time. The bone marrow donor recruitment drive will benefit patients suffering from leukemia, lymphoma, other cancers and genetic disorders find matching donors for blood and marrow transplants. That is, of course, if a donor can be found. The vision of Gift of Life Bone Marrow Foundation is simple: A match. Anytime. Anywhere. For anyone.

Join Madisonville Community College as they host donor recruitment drive events to register potential bone marrow donors on behalf of Gift of Life Bone Marrow Foundation. The drive will benefit patients suffering from various blood cancers and diseases who are in need of a bone marrow transplant.

Donor recruitment drive dates, times, and locations are:

MCC Health Sciences Campus (750 North Laffoon Street, Madisonville)
  • April 13 from 11 a.m. 1 p.m. in the Hatley Building Lobby (hosted by the MCC Nurses Relay for Life Team)
MCC Muhlenberg Campus (406 W. Everly Brothers Blvd., Central City)
  • Wednesday, April 22 9 a.m. 1 p.m. and 2 p.m. 4:30 p.m.
  • Thursday, April 23 12 noon 5 p.m.
  • Friday, April 24 9 a.m. 4 p.m.
  • Monday, April 27 9 a.m. 5 p.m.
  • Tuesday, April 28 1 p.m. 6 p.m.
  • Wednesday, April 29 9 a.m. 1 p.m.

Community members and MCC students, faculty, and staff are encouraged to participate in the donor drive. It s fast and painless, and there is no cost for the screening. If you are between the ages of 18 and 60 and in general good health, you are eligible to be screened and join the worldwide registry for patients in need. A simple swab from the inside of your cheek is all it takes to determine if you are a match.

Gift of Life relies on the generosity of donations to help offset the $60 lab processing fee for each kit, allowing potential donors to be screened for free.
