What is Human Services?

The Human Services program prepares individuals for entry-level positions in agencies and institutions which provide social, community, educational and mental health services. Upon completion of the program, the graduate is prepared to seek employment in various areas which may include child care facilities, mental health settings, chemical dependency settings, hospitals, educational institutions, correctional facilities, geriatric settings, child and youth centers, and social service agencies.

Your associate in applied science degree in Human Services is transferable to bachelor of science programs at:

  • Western Kentucky University (Bachelor of Social Work),
  • Morehead State University (Bachelor of Social Work)
  • Murray State University (AAS into Bachelor of Integrated Studies or AA w/Human Services Framework into Bachelor of Social Work)
  • Kentucky State University (Bachelor of Arts in Psychology)
  • University of Pikeville ( Bachelor of Social Work)
  • Additional out-of-state transfer options may be available

You will be eligible for graduation when you have completed your program with a minimum grade point average of 2.0. In addition, you must have a minimum of 24 hours taken in residence within KCTCS and 25% of the approved coursework must come from Madisonville Community College.

The Office of Career Services offers students, alumni, and members of the community free assistance in locating regional and local employment opportunities. We are available to assist employers by referring qualified candidates for full-time, part-time, temporary, and cooperative education positions. Length of Program

You can earn an associate in applied science degree in two years if you maintain full-time status.
