Financial Aid and Scholarship Forms Now Available
The Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) is available for students planning
to attend Madisonville Community College during the spring 2013 semester. Students
are encouraged to file for financial aid as soon as possible, according to Martha
Phelps, MCC Financial Aid Director. The priority deadline for spring 2013 aid is November
1; students applying for aid after this date will encounter delays in processing.
Those completing the FAFSA will need their 2011 federal taxes and W-2 forms. Federal
regulations state that if a student is under the age of 24, unmarried, and does not
support a child more than 51% they are required to provide parental income as well,
said Phelps.
Students may complete the FAFSA online at www.fafsa.ed.gov and must obtain a Personal Identification Number (PIN), available at www.pin.ed.gov, in order to sign the document electronically. The MCC Financial Aid staff is available
daily to assist students with FAFSA completion and other questions or concerns. Financial
Aid staff are at the Muhlenberg County Campus every Thursday from 9:00 a.m. until
4:00 p.m.
Students should remember that the FAFSA is a free application , Phelps added. Applicants
should be wary of any financial aid forms or processes that require payment . For
additional financial aid information, please contact the MCC Financial Aid Department
at (270) 824-8693 or visit the Affording College section of our website.
