    Judith K. Moore Memorial Endowment Scholarship Recipients Announced

    Madisonville Community College students Atheena Durazo and Emillie Polley received an additional benefit of being in the School Counts! work ethic/scholarship program during their high school years.  They were recently selected as recipients of the Judith K. Moore Memorial Endowment Scholarship for 2017.  Founded in memory of Judy Moore, a long-time MCC employee and advocate for the School Counts! program in Hopkins County, the scholarship requirements include the successful completion of the School Counts! program while in high school, full-time enrollment at MCC, maintaining a minimum 3.0 GPA, and pursuing a Business Administration or an Associate in Arts degree.

    Durazo and Polley are both School Counts graduates from Hopkins County High School.  Durazo, from Nortonville, is completing coursework towards an Associate in Arts degree and plans to transfer to a four-year university for a double major in history and secondary education.

     

     

     

     

     

     

    Emillie PolleyEmillie Polley

    Polley, of St. Charles, is enrolled in the Business Administration program at MCC and is a participant in the Associates to MBA program, a joint venture with MCC and Murray State University.  She will transfer to Murray State University to complete her studies toward a Master of Business Administration degree.

     

     

     

     

     

     

    School Counts logo

     School Counts! in Hopkins County is a work ethic/scholarship program for students at Dawson Springs High School, Hopkins County Central High School and Madisonville North Hopkins High School.  All freshman students are automatically enrolled in the School Counts! program. 

    Program eligibility must be maintained each school year by completing the following criteria:

    • Quality - obtain a minimum 2.50 GPA yearly
    • Attendance - achieve a minimum 95% attendance and punctuality record
    • Persistence - on schedule to complete high school in four years
    • Rigor - take more than the minimum number of credits required to graduate

    Successful School Counts! high school graduates are eligible for tuition scholarships for four semesters at Madisonville Community College.
