TRiO TALENT SEARCH MIDDLE SCHOOL STUDENTS VISIT LOUISVILLE AREA

Madisonville Community College TRiO Talent Search middle school participants from Crittenden, Hopkins and Muhlenberg counties traveled to Louisville on June 1st and 8th for College and Cultural Day trips.

More than 100 middle school students had the opportunity to briefly tour the University of Louisville and enjoy lunch on the Spirit of Jefferson Riverboat while cruising down the Ohio River.

The day trips were very enjoyable and the students had an awesome experience. For some it was their first time to be in Louisville, and it was memorable for the groups to pass by the Mohammad Ali Center the week of his funeral.

MCC TRiO Talent Search staff on the trip included Wes Ausenbaugh, Christian Cates Marcia Evans, Jesse Frailey and Anna Leasure. Madisonville Community College TRiO Talent Search program serves middle and high school students in Crittenden, Hopkins and Muhlenberg counties. The Federal TRiO Programs are federal outreach and student service programs designed to identify eligible students not only for college enrollment but for college graduation. Regular in-school group workshops, individual and small group sessions, college campus tours, cultural exposure, and coordination with in-school and summer academic enrichment opportunities are included in the program services. An emphasis is placed on rigorous curriculum success to lay the foundation for baccalaureate degree completion.
