START OF FALL SEMESTER NEARS AT MUHLENBERG COUNTY CAMPUS

Congratulations to the recent graduates of Muhlenberg County High School and their families!! With the delayed end of the school year, the graduates have less time to plan for the start of their college work in the fall.

Madisonville Community College (MCC), with its campus in Muhlenberg County, offers students great options for this next step. MCC President Dr. Judith Rhoads, who grew up in Central City, urges students to consider attending Madisonville Community College. One of the most serious concerns facing today s college students is the high costs involved with a college degree that often results in students with a very large student loan debt as they begin their careers in their chosen fields. However, students attending MCC can save at least 60% on tuition and more on other college expenses for the first two years of college.

Students are currently preparing for classes at the MCC Muhlenberg County Campus in the fall. Penny Jessup, student affairs specialist at the campus, notes that more and more students are choosing MCC for its affordability with plans to complete their basic course before transferring to a four-year school with an associate degree or entering one of the many career programs available at the college in Madisonville. She adds that the college encourages students who may have graduated high school several years ago to also consider attending Madisonville Community College. The Felix E. Martin, Jr. Foundation has provided generous support to qualifying older adults wishing to complete a college degree through the Martin Scholars Program.

The Muhlenberg County schedule includes several opportunities for students wishing to enter the health care field. Successful completion of the nursing assistant or emergency medical technician courses allows students to earn a certificate that prepares them to take the state licensure examination for nurse aide or EMT, respectively. MCC students will find schedules with considerable flexibility, including many online course offerings.
