ONLINE MEDICAL RECEPTIONISTST CERTIFICATE NOW AVAILABLE

Madisonville Community College is now offering a Medical Receptionist certificate with all coursework being completed online and in less than 2 semesters. Medical receptionists are the first point of contact; they greet patients, answer non-medical questions, make appointments, and work as a liaison between the patient and the medical staff. Classes will prepare students with good communication, customer service, inter-personal, and organizational skills for medical receptionist positions

According to the 2014-15 edition of the Occupational Outlook Handbook, employment of receptionists is projected to grow 14 percent from 2012 to 2022. Overall job opportunities should be good and those with related work experience and good computer skills should have the best job prospects. Obtaining the Medical Receptionist certificate will boost employment opportunity.

Individuals can get started in the summer semester with enrollment in MIT 230 Medical Information Management and/or AHS 115 Medical Terminology. Both are online classes that run from May 13 until June 10.

Course requirements can be completed in the fall semester with enrollment in ENG 101 Writing; CIT 105 Introduction to Computers; OST 110 Document Formatting amp; Word Process; MIT 217 Medical Office Procedures; and AHS 115 Medical Terminology (if not taken during summer semester). All classes are available in the online format and meet from August 18 until December 14. Students enrolling now are only 6 classes away from a new career in 2015!
