MCC OFFERS STUDENTS ALTERNATIVE TO COSTLY HIGHER EDUCATION DEBT

In a recent national poll, as many as three out of ten new college graduates entering the workforce identified oppressive college debt as their most serious financial challenge. Stories of graduates from public and private four-year institutions with more than $50,000 in college loans to repay are common.

Madisonville Community College (MCC), with its Muhlenberg County Campus in Central City, offers local residents an outstanding alternative. College costs at MCC are on average less than half of that at a state college or university. In fact, the Kentucky Community and Technical College System was the only Kentucky college not to raise tuition this year. With many qualifying for federal grant aid, students can attend MCC, ranked among the top 10% community colleges in the nation, and transfer to a four-year college of their choice without taking on a huge debt load. Plus, MCC offers over twenty challenging high demand, high wage programs for students interested in getting an early start on their careers.

Chief Academic Officer Dr. Deborah Cox notes, The Muhlenberg County Campus, along with the large number of online class options, offers local students a truly outstanding selection of course offerings and times to fit students busy schedules. The MCC Muhlenberg Campus is currently registering students for the fall semester. Coursework begins the week of August 17.

MCC s fall semester schedule also features courses designed to prepare students for both immediate employment and for admission to health care programs. There are four sections of NAA 100 - Nursing Assistant Skills I offered to prepare students for the state licensure examination to work as CNAs in long term care or hospital settings. The course is also required for admission consideration for the college s nursing program. Additionally, there is an EMS 105 Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) class offered on Mondays and Thursdays from 5-9 p.m. Students successfully completing this class are eligible to take the national EMT examination. EMS 105 is also an admission requirement for the college s paramedic program.
