MCC Instructor is Honored for Contributions in His Field

MADISONVILLE, Ky. Jeff Bidwell, surgical technology program coordinator at Madisonville Community College, was awarded the Fellow of the Association of Surgical Technologists (FAST) designation at the Association of Surgical Technologists (AST) annual national conference held recently in Dallas.

The FAST designation recognizes individuals who have upheld the highest standards and traditions of the surgical technology profession and whose professional activities have been devoted to the advancement of the profession toward improving the quality of surgical patient care.

At the conference, Bidwell assisted with the accreditation fundamentals for educator s workshop and a suturing workshop.

The accreditation fundamentals workshop is designed to inform new and experienced instructors and educators about the ARC/STSA process, policy and procedure needed for CAAHEP programmatic accreditation. The 6-hour suturing workshop is designed to teach individual basic suturing and tying skills.

Bidwell also received the Educator of the Year award from the National Surgical Assistant Association (NSAA) during the National Conference held recently in Washington, D.C.

Bidwell also teaches history on the Muhlenberg County Campus and resides in Moorman.
