MCC Hosts Skills USA Welding Competition

MCC HOSTS SKILLS USA WELDING COMPETITION

Madisonville Community College hosted the regional Skills USA Welding Competition on Friday, February 28. Teams from Caldwell, Christian, and Muhlenberg counties participated in the Box competition and the Welding 1 competition.

Taking 1st place in the Box competition was Trevor Howton (Caldwell) followed by Trey Greene (Caldwell) in 2nd place and Cody Bolinger (Muhlenberg) in 3rd place.

In the Welding 1 competition, Chase Bull (Christian) won 1st place, Joe Dan Hughes (Caldwell) placed 2nd, and Jacob Tinsley (Caldwell) took 3rd place.

SkillsUSA Kentucky is a partnership of students, teachers, and industry representatives working together to ensure Kentucky has a skilled workforce. Local, regional, state and national competitions in which students demonstrate occupational and leadership skills are held annually. The SkillsUSA KY State Leadership Conference and Skills Championship will be held in Louisville on April 16-19 with approximately 1,000 students competing in 99 occupational and leadership skill areas.
