ALAN T. GRAY CONFERENCE ROOM NAMING ANNOUNCED

Madisonville Community College President Dr. Judith L. Rhoads was honored to announce the naming of the Alan T. Gray Conference Room during a reception held on August 18. The naming acknowledges a generous contribution in Gray s memory to the college s BuildSmart Investment in Kentucky Competitiveness campaign from his wife, Mary Gray. The newly named conference room is located on the 3rd floor of the John H. Gray Building on the MCC s North Campus. The inscription on the plaque reads, In Loving Memory of Alan T. Gray by his devoted wife, Mary Gray, and in recognition of the support shown to MCC by his father, John H. Gray.

Mary Gray recalled her late husband s bond with his father, John H. Gray. Today it is just an honor to be able to dedicate this plaque in memory of Alan. I chose this building to honor Alan because it carried the name of his beloved father, John H. Gray. I want to thank each of you for being here today for the dedication of this beautiful conference room dedicated to my loving husband, Alan Thomas Gray. He would be so proud.

MCC BuildSmart campaign co-chair Steve Cox and childhood friend of the late Gray noted, I can t think of anything nicer or greater than the gift she has given to the college with all the connections and for all the years. The college today has prospered because of a lot of gentlemen, ladies, and families who saw the need for our community. This just further helps to take another step in a positive way. In recalling his time with Alan, Cox shared, Alan was a very delightful person, very quiet person, and very genuine. He was always your friend and you could always count on him to be there to help you. I think that is evident with Mary s gift to the college that will continue to help everybody. That is so important and I want to thank you.

The BuildSmart campaign is a grassroots fundraising effort for the construction of the Madisonville Regional Postsecondary Education Center on MCC s North Campus. In partnership with Murray State University, the facility will provide an array of educational opportunities for local economic development competitiveness of the county, region, and state.
