MCC Day of Giving Raises Over $26,500 for the Dress Up the Glema Campaign

The inaugural Day of Giving at Madisonville Community College exceeded expectations, according to Raegina Scott, MCC director of advancement.

Scott commented, “We are so happy to share that the first-ever MCC Day of Giving raised over $26,500 for the Dress Up the Glema campaign. The generosity from MCC faculty and staff, as well as several community members, was overwhelming for our first effort.”

The college implemented a social media and word-of-mouth campaign to encourage community supporters, alumni, faculty, and staff to make a gift to the campaign on May 1. Days of giving have become more common in recent years to allow organizations to highlight important causes and to draw attention to the need for funds to support key initiatives. The addition of a new, online giving portal on the college’s website helped individuals from across the state make a gift on that day to help boost campaign totals.

“We had over 50 donations come through our new online donation option,” Scott continued. “The college is excited to provide this new method for supporters to make donations. Overall, the community’s support throughout the campaign has been tremendous.”

To date, the campaign has raised over $285,000, which represents 57% of the overall goal. The college and foundation hope to conclude the campaign by the end of 2019. Future events are planned by MCC and the Madisonville College Foundation for June and planning has started for the annual fall gala event for the campaign.
