MCC STUDENTS AWARDED DAVENPORT ENDOWMENT SCHOLARSHIPS

Madisonville Community College students Elizabeth Fleming, Jessica Chavis, and Kristen Casey have been awarded scholarships from the Dr. Lea Ann Davenport Memorial Endowment for the 2016-2017 academic year based on their exemplary academic.

Elizabeth Fleming, of Manitou, was awarded a $1,000 scholarship. Fleming is currently completing coursework towards an Associate in Science degree and anticipates graduating in spring 2017. She plans to transfer to Murray State University to pursue a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Information Systems.

Jessica Chavis, of Madisonville, has been awarded a $500 scholarship for the 2016-2017 academic year. She plans to complete her Associate in Arts degree in Fall 2016 and transfer to Kentucky Wesleyan University to work towards a doctoral degree in dentistry.

Kristen Casey, of Central City, has been awarded a $500 scholarship for the 2016-2017 academic year. She plans to transfer to the University of Louisville in the Spring 2017 semester to enter the nurse practitioner program.

The Dr. Lea Ann Davenport Memorial Endowment was made possible through a planned insurance arrangement that her parents, Ann and Bill Davenport, completed while their daughter was in college. Dr. Davenport died on April 17, 2013. The endowment provides scholarship awards to students majoring in the math/sciences areas and also provides for faculty professional development funding.
