MCC hosts Camp WonderKids

Madisonville Community College (MCC) will be hosting Camp WonderKids on May 29-June 1 at the Madisonville City Park. The day camp runs from 8:00 a.m. until 3:00 p.m. each day and is designed for children ages 6-12 years old with asthma. Now in its fifteenth year of serving children and families in the Hopkins County area, Camp WonderKids was the vision of SuzAnne Wilson, retired MCC Respiratory Care professor. It is now coordinated by MCC Respiratory Care associate professors Tina Siddon and Kelly Hayes.

Camp WonderKids offers a unique experience for campers and is fully staffed by volunteer health care professionals. The campers enjoy activities such as swimming, soccer, tennis, softball, and crafts. During all of the activities, campers are taught to be aware of and how to deal with their own asthma symptoms while being active and having fun.

The camp is free and is co-sponsored by the American Lung Association of Kentucky, Madisonville Community College, Trover Foundation, local individuals, community organizations, and businesses.

For additional information, contact Tina Siddon at (270) 824-1748 or Kelly Hayes at (270) 824-1747.
