Madisonville Community College President Dr. Judith L. Rhoads is pleased to announce the naming of the mining simulation lab in memory of the late James D. Nance. The naming is in recognition of a $100,000 donation from Tungco Founder and CEO Steve Nance to the college s BuildSmart Investment in Kentucky Competitiveness campaign for the construction of the Madisonville Regional Postsecondary Education Center.

Family, friends, and Tungco employees were guests at a July 30th reception for the announcement of the James D. Nance Mining Simulation Lab. Steve Nance shared how his father got him started in business and how giving forward to students was a great way to honor his memory. Tungco, established in 1969, specializes in mining-grade tungsten carbide reclamation and raw feed supply to tungsten carbide suppliers and consumers. It is located at 3955 Anton Road in Madisonville.

The newly named mining simulation lab is located on the first floor of the Brown Badgett, Sr. Energy amp; Advanced Technology. Students in the college s mining program have the opportunity to safely practice using very powerful mining equipment through the 5DT simulators. The controls are virtually identical to what is found on the equipment being used in the mining industry today.
