MLT Licensure and Accreditation
The National Certifying Agency for Clinical Laboratory Personnel (NCA) licensure exam, which costs $125, is given in January and July. American Society of Clinical Pathologist (ASCP) licensure exam, which costs $135, is given in January and July. Both of these exams require completion of required course work at any KCTCS college and the CLT program.

OTA Licensure and Accreditation

The Associate of Applied Science Degree is awarded upon successful completion of this program and the graduate is eligible to sit for the National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy (NBCOT) Certification Examination for Occupational Therapy Assistants. Students should be aware that a felony conviction may affect a graduate s ability to sit for the NBCOT certification exam or attain state licensure. Further information can be found at www.nbcot.org. After successful completion of this exam, the individual will be a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA). Most states require licensure in order to practice, however, state licensure are usually based on the results of the NBCOT Certification Examination.
PTA Licensure and Accreditation

Upon satisfactory completion of the degree and the clinical affiliation requirements, the PTA graduate may apply for licensure and permission to sit for the National Physical Therapist Assistant Examination. The exam is administered by the Federation of State Boards of Physical Therapy at specific testing sites. Students who pass the National Licensure Exam may apply for licensure in other states without having to take the exam again. Information about licensure or registration in the state in which one wishes to practice can be obtained from the Federation of State Boards of Physical Therapy.
The Boards of Physical Therapy in the states of Kentucky, Ohio, and Indiana may refuse to license or certify an applicant if they have been convicted of a felony or misdemeanor and may require the applicant to complete a criminal background check for the specific state of licensure. If prospective students have questions regarding this, they are advised to contact the PT State Board of Licensure directly prior to beginning this course of study.
