Phi Beta Lambda Recognized at National Leadership Conference

(MADISONVILLE, KY) - Madisonville Community College’s FBLA-Phi Beta Lambda (PBL) chapter received national recognition at the PBL Awards of Excellence Program for their outstanding results in competition at the National Leadership Conference held in June in Baltimore, Maryland.

Students receiving recognition from MCC included the following:

• 10th place Hospitality Analysis & Decision Making - Taylor Jones and Kyndall Whitmer;
• 10th place - Integrated Marketing Campaign - Krista Brasher;
• 6th Place - Job Interview-Katy Groves McGlothlin;
• 8th place - Help Desk – Elizabeth Fleming;
• 8th place Networking Concepts - Elizabeth Fleming;
• Lillie Brooks competed in Human Resource Managemen

“Every year we are amazed at how well our students handle themselves at these national competitions.  Not only are they competitive winners, they are also examples of professionalism,” said Kim Simons, co-adviser of the group.

Participants from across the United States attended this exciting conference to enhance their business skills, expand their networks, and participate in 60 business and business-related competitive events. More than 1,800 of America’s best and brightest college students were present to Elevate their Futures as they competed for the opportunity to win more than $110,000 in cash awards.

The awards were part of a comprehensive national competition program sponsored by FBLA-PBL that recognizes and rewards excellence in a broad range of business and career-related areas. For many students, the competitive events are the capstone activity of their academic careers. In addition to competitions, students immersed themselves in interactive workshops, visited an information-packed exhibit hall, and heard from motivational keynotes on a broad range of business topics. Future Business Leaders of America-Phi Beta Lambda, Inc., the premier student business organization, is a nonprofit 501(c)(3) education association with a quarter million members and advisers in over 6,500 active middle school, high school, and college chapters worldwide.
