Martin, of Dawson Springs, is completing coursework towards the Associate in Arts and Health Science Technology degrees in addition to applying for admission to the fall 2018 nursing program.  She has served as an officer in MCC’s Phi Theta Kappa, volunteered with the Evansville Rescue Mission, Molly’s Mutts, and the 9/11 Hero’s Run.   She has performed at the Glema Mahr Center for the Arts for the past 11 years and, most recently, can be found performing at Sugg Street and in the Sugg Street Listening Room/Big City Market on select Wednesday evenings.  Her focus is on humanitarianism, environmentalism and community services.  As SGA president, she shared that she wants “to bring the community to the community college and the college to the community.”

Slaton, of White Plains, will be graduating from MCC in May 2018 and transferring to Murray State University to pursue a bachelor’s degree in elementary education.  She has an extensive list of volunteer work with the MCC Lions Club, the Damascus Road House Youth Center in Nortonville, the Community Food Bank, Habitat for Humanity, and Hannah House.  She has also served in various leadership roles in her church.

Moore, of Madisonville, is completing pre-veterinarian coursework and anticipates graduating in the spring of 2018.  She has previously served as treasurer of the MNHHS HOSA organization and as committee chair for the MNHHS FFA group.  She volunteers at Pennyrile Animal Clinic, Pride Elementary School, and Mesker Park Zoo.

Kayleigh Garner, of Bremen, is a nursing major completing program pre-admission coursework.

Leah Buchanan, of Hanson, anticipates graduating in spring 2018 with an Associate in Arts degree as an education major.  She had been involved in the Rotary Club, Student Government, and the Homeschool Association.

“MCC’s SGA organization is an important aspect of our student life programming on campus.  We are fortunate to have such strong leadership for the new academic year.   Kaitlyn, Hannah, Jamie, Kayleigh, and Leah will be an excellent team,” noted MCC Dean of Student Affairs Cathy Vaughan.

The mission of MCC’s Student Government Association is to further the development of ideas, character, and knowledge of the college and its students; to insure a maximum of self-government based upon mutual respect of the students, administration, faculty, and staff; and to promote student activities.
