Winners Announced in the Stanley Lewis Cultural Diversity Writing Contest

MCC is pleased to announce the winners of the Stanley Lewis Cultural Diversity Writing Contest. Jessica Chavis of Madisonville took first place with her entry, Heart s Cry. Second place winner was Megan Soulakham, also of Madisonville, with her entry, Diversity Through A Natural Redhead s Eye. Brittany Stanley of White Plains placed third with her entry, Color My World.

Sponsored by MCC, the Stanley Lewis Cultural Diversity Writing Contest is an annual event to honor Mr. Lewis, MCC's first African American faculty member. Mr. Lewis was dedicated to meeting the needs of every student and provided genuine kindness, concern, and the best possible service for over 28 years. He was an active member and Trustee at Eastview Baptist Church in Madisonville.

Winners were announced February 12, 2013 during MCC s 18th Annual Voices program in celebration of Black History Month.
