2013-2014 ACADEMIC YEAR

Madisonville Community College s Scholarship and Advancement Offices announce that scholarship awards have been completed to current and recent graduates of Webster County High School for the fall and spring semesters. The awards were funded through a combination of the recently established Webster County Opportunity Endowment, other Webster County gifts, and unrestricted resources. A total of 14 county-wide awards were made each with a value of $1,100. When combined with average KEES awards that are earned over a student s high school career, students will have approximately $2,300 to support their first year at Madisonville Community College. If the student meets the academic criteria, the scholarships may be renewed for a second year, pending funding availability. Other restricted financial aid sources which are available depending on the student s academic discipline are not included. The $4,600 available from KEES and the community scholarships represent approximately 50-55% of the total cost of completing 52-55 credit hours during a student s two years of enrollment at MCC while earning an associate degree or building credits toward a future 4-year degree.

Madisonville Community College also recently received a significant gift that will provide additional Webster County permanent scholarship funding; this gift will be matched by the Kentucky Community and Technical College System s Endowment Match Program over the next several years. MCC officials hope to complete selected community solicitations around Providence, Clay, and Dixon in the upcoming years to increase these new gifts. Approximately 20-22 local scholarships will be awarded through the Webster County Opportunity Endowment beginning in January 2018; each award will be a minimum of $1,200 annually.

For academic year 2014-2015, MCC plans to offer 14 awards with additional scholarships for specific disciplines also available to Webster County residents enrolled in allied health and integrated technology related disciplines.
