SUPER SUNDAY HALL OF FAME ALUMNI HONORED - COLLEGE FAIRS TO BE HELD FEBRUARY 28
Madisonville Community College is proud to honor Vivian D. Snorton as the newest member of the Super Sunday Hall of Fame.Super Sunday is an annual Kentucky Community and Technical College System (KCTCS) statewide initiative intended to increase the college-going rate of students of color. As part of this initiative, a Super Sunday Hall of Fame has been established, highlighting outstanding African-American alumni.
Vivian D. Snorton is a native of Madisonville. Since 2007, she has been the Case Manager for Hopkins County Family Court and is responsible for coordinating the Families in Transition Divorce Education Program.
In 2004, she found herself suddenly unemployed after 16 years. Vivian decided to seize this opportunity to pursue her education at Madisonville Community College. Being a non-traditional student, she was faced with many challenges. Through the help and support of MCC faculty, staff and others, she was successful in obtaining an Associate in Applied Science in Criminal Justice degree. During her time at MCC, she was active in the Multicultural Student Association, Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society, and served as a 2006 graduation usher. Vivian looks back on her years spent at MCC with fond memories. Snorton shared, "Many times in life we must take that step out of our comfort zone in order to move forward in life. With the help of the Lord you can achieve your goals." Vivian is a witness to that!
On Sunday, February 28, MCC will partner with churches in Caldwell, Hopkins, Muhlenberg, and Webster counties to host information fairs for prospective college students and their families. For most Kentuckians, higher education begins at one of the state s 16 community and technical colleges. It is a vital part of the KCTCS mission to ensure the state s diverse populations receive every opportunity to obtain a college education.
