STANLEY LEWIS CULTURAL DIVERSITY WRITING CONTEST WINNERS ANNOUNCED

Madisonville Community College is pleased to announce the results of the 2016 Stanley Lewis Cultural Diversity Writing Contest. The 1st place prize of $500 was awarded to Andria Banker, an 11th grade student at Madisonville North Hopkins High School. Her winning entry was titled, Down the Corridor. Erica Elliott of Central City was the 2nd place winner with a prize of $150 for her entry titled, Diversity. The 3rd place winner of $50 was De Caris Logan of Madisonville with his entry titled, But You Need Diversity? Madison Witherspoon, a 5th grade student at Pride Elementary School, was awarded the $50 prize for the elementary/middle school category for the entry titled, Different, But Really Alike.

The annual writing contest is held in memory of Stanley Lewis, the first African American faculty member at Madisonville Community College. Mr. Lewis was dedicated to meeting the needs of MCC students for over 28 years by providing genuine kindness, concern, and the best possible service to all. He was an active member, Deacon and Trustee at Eastview Baptist Church in Madisonville.

The Stanley Lewis Cultural Diversity Writing Contest is sponsored by MCC s Cultural Diversity Committee with funding support from Eastview Baptist Church.
