MCC Library Reading Series Featuring Werner and Taylor

The Madisonville Community College (MCC) Loman C. Trover Library will present an evening of reading and conversation with Mary Werner and Stephanie Taylor on Thursday, November 10, beginning at 6 p.m.

Werner grew up in Illinois, where she attended Illinois State and Northern Illinois Universities. She moved to Kentucky in August of 1996 to begin a teaching career at MCC, where she is now the Chair of the Humanities Division. Her creative work has appeared in The Roundtable, The Gadfly, The Journal of Kentucky Studies, The Riverbend Review, The White Squirrel, The Heartland Review, the feminist anthologies Telling Stories, and I to I: Life Writing by Kentucky Feminists. She has won prizes for short fiction from The Riverbend Review and The Heartland Review. Her novel, The Life of Geraldine X, is available on Kindle for Amazon and she is at work on a second novel.

Taylor writes as S. A. Taylor and builds her stories around characters who speak the loudest and drops them into plots filled with high emotional stakes and a touch of humor. Her ideas come from an extensive background in the medical profession, a fascination with law enforcement and forensics, and a passion for sports and music. She has written two romantic suspense and two contemporary romance manuscripts, and several short story pieces. One of her romantic suspense manuscripts, Shutter, received a third place finish in the 2016 Wisconsin Romance Writers Association Fab-5 contest. In addition to several online critique groups, Taylor participates in two local writers groups and recently served as a judge for a national mystery/suspense writing contest.

The event will take place on Thursday, November 10, at 6 p.m. in the Loman C. Trover Library located on the 2nd floor of the Learning Resource Center on MCC s North Campus (2000 College Drive, Madisonville).

The event is free and open to the community. Refreshments will be available.
