GLEMA MAHR CENTER FOR THE ARTS ANNOUNCES FALL 2014 LINEUP

The Glema Mahr Center for the Arts is excited to announce our Fall 2014 lineup including Lyle Lovett amp; His Large Band, country artist Chris Young, actor Stephen Lang, and Little River Band. The split-season schedule will make it easier for package buyers, and it will give the Glema Center to flexibility of waiting until the fall to finalize our Spring schedule so we can take advantage of last minute routing opportunities so we can keep our ticket prices down. We were able to do this for our Fall season, and we are thrilled that we are able to bring in four acts that could be a Headliner for any Season!

Season Tickets go on sale July 1 and single tickets for Lyle Lovett amp; His Large Band begin July 7. Buy your seats soon for the August 10 concert by this iconic singer/songwriter. Lyle Lovett amp; His Large Band 7 p.m. Sunday, August 10, 2014 (Note special time)
A singer, composer and actor, Lyle Lovett has broadened the definition of American music in a career that spans 14 albums. Coupled with his gift for storytelling, the Texas-based musician fuses elements of country, swing, jazz, folk, gospel and blues in a convention-defying manner that breaks down barriers. Garden amp; Gun recently called Lovett one of America s most beloved singer/songwriters, and he was featured in the coveted What I ve Learned column in the February 2012 issue of Esquire. Since his self-titled debut in 1986, Lyle Lovett has evolved into one of music s most vibrant and iconic performers. His rich and eclectic body of work is one of the most beloved of any living artist today.

Chris Young has accomplished more by 28 than some artists do in a lifetime. Already a Grammy-nominated recording artist, he s also a dynamic live performer consistently in demand, an international ambassador for his genre, a talented songwriter with five Number Ones to his name. Now, on the cusp of his fourth album, A.M., (out September 17 on RCA Nashville), the man known for his classic baritone and melt-your-heart ballads has suddenly revealed himself to be king of the good time, too, with lead single Aw Naw electrifying crowds and storming up the charts.

An Evening with Little River Band 7:30 p.m. Saturday, December 13, 2014
Little River Band was formed in Melbourne, Australia in 1975. It was originally a blend of musicians who had enjoyed success in other Australian acts. Between 1976 and 1983, chart success in America included popular singles like Take It Easy On Me, Reminiscing , Lady, Cool Change and Lonesome Loser. Their current lineup brings new energy and arrangements to the classic hits, making new memories for the audience out of each live performance.

Expect the unexpected with The Flying Karamazov Bothers. Often described as multi-faceted new-vaudevillians at the apex of their ambidextrous and alliterative ability, the self-proclaimed eccentric lunatics spice things up with a zany showcase filled with laugh-out-loud comedy, wild theatrics, arcane errata, and astonishing juggling feats.

Glema Mahr Chamber Music Series
President Lincoln's Own Band 7:30 p.m. Saturday, September 6, 2014
Bands usually hit it big with music that is new and different. But Don Johnson s band is making a national splash by performing pieces that are old and authentic. Johnson, who grew up in Lexington and now lives in Marion County, is the artistic director of President Lincoln s Own Band, a uniformed military-style ensemble that plays Civil War-era music on original period instruments. Since appearing in Steven Spielberg s acclaimed 2012 movie, Lincoln, the band has been a sought-after soundtrack for many events marking the Civil War s sesquicentennial.

Hancock Bank amp; Trust Coffeehouse Series
Count This Penny - Americana 7:30 p.m. Monday, September 22, 2014
Count This Penny was founded by Amanda and Allen Rigell as a songwriting duo in 2009. Today this full-fledged, country-folk band was named as one of Wisconsin s 10 Bands to Watch by the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel.

Todd Hill Quintet-Jazz 7:30 p.m. Thursday, November 6, 2014
The Todd Hill Quintet is a five-instrument group that will take listeners through a series of popular and favorite American jazz tunes. William Shakespeare's "Much Ado About Nothing Presented by Cambridge American Stage Tour - 7 p.m. Thursday, September 11, 2014
Now in its fifteenth year, Cambridge University's Cambridge American Stage Tour, established under the patronage of Dame Judi Dench, has been performing to packed houses and critical acclaim. Each September, Cambridge's most talented actors, directors, designers and technicians travel across the Atlantic to bring a Shakespeare play to colleges, high schools and professional theatres. This year's production, Much Ado About Nothing, will be directed by Emily Burns. The Cambridge American Stage Tour says of this year s play: Filled with live music, a line-up of vibrant characters and sparkling dialogue, this is Shakespeare s comedic skill at its absolute best. As devious strategies are prepared, sides drawn and redrawn, and untruth after untruth exposed, the outcome of each romantic match is just too close to call at least until the final hand has been shown!
