Former MCC Student to be Featured in Reading Series

Headshot of Teresa MedeirosFormer Madisonville Community College student Teresa Medeiros will be the Spring 2010 reader for the Loman C. Trover Library Reading Series on Tuesday, April 13 at 7 p.m. in Trover Library on the North Campus.

New York Times bestseller Medeiros wrote her first novel at the age of 21, introducing readers to one of the most beloved and versatile voices in romantic fiction. She has appeared on every national bestseller list, including the New York Times, USA Today, and Publishers Weekly lists.

Medeiros was chosen one of the Top Ten Favorite Romance Authors by Affaire de Coeur magazine, and she won the Romantic Times Reviewer s Choice Award for Best Historical Love and Laughter.

She is a seven-time Rita award finalist from the Romance Writers of America, two-time PRISM winner, and two-time winner of the Waldenbooks Award for bestselling fiction. Her May 2002 release, A Kiss to Remember, was chosen one of the Top 10 Romances of the Year by Booklist magazine, the official publication of the American Library Association. One Night of Scandal, her August 2003 release, won the Romantic Times Reviewer s Choice Award for Best Historical Romance of 2003.

Some Like it Wild, her 19th novel and most recent New York Times bestseller, was released in April 2009.

Medeiros is a charter member of the Romance Writers of America Honor Roll, Kentucky Romance Writers, and Novelists, Inc.

MCC Professor of English, Dr. Mary Werner, will also be featured at the April 13 reading series. Werner earned her doctorate degree in English in 1996 from Northern Illinois University. Her creative work has appeared in Telling Stories, I to I, The Roundtable, The Gadfly, and The Journal of Kentucky Studies.

The Loman C. Trover Library Reading Series is a cooperative effort of MCC libraries and the college s Humanities Division. The public is invited to attend.
