Madisonville Community College is pleased to announce the selection of Jeremy
Bivins as the 2012 Outstanding Student of the Year. The award was presented by Jay
Parrent, Dean of Student Affairs, at the college s May 4 commencement ceremony.
Bivins, of Dunmor, Kentucky, earned an Associate in Science degree. He has been very
active on the MCC Muhlenberg County campus, serving as the founding president of the
Students Investigating Science and Math club and started the Brown Bag lunch info
series. Bivins also worked on campus as a student tutor in the Learning Center and
was recently recognized as Tutor of the Year. He plans to continue his education at
Kentucky Wesleyan College in the fall to study mathematics education.
