Madisonville Community College will hold an inauguration ceremony for its fourth president, Dr. Cindy Kelley, on Friday, November 3, at 3:00 pm at the Glema Mahr Center for the Arts.
Dr. Kelley started her career as a public school teacher. In 1991 she became an instructor of education at West Virginia University at Parkersburg. She held the rank of full professor and served as faculty senate president while a faculty member. She has also served in positions of associate dean, dean of academic affairs, and vice president for academic affairs and student services.
In 2008, Dr. Kelley was named an American Council on Education Fellow.
Before coming to Madisonville Community College, Dr. Kelley served as Vice President for Academic Affairs at Motlow State Community College in Lynchburg, Tennessee. She served on the Commission for Academic, Student, and Community Development for the American Association of Community Colleges. Dr. Kelley earned a Ph.D. at Ohio University and an M.A. from West Virginia University.
The presidential inauguration ceremony is counted among the oldest of traditions in academia and one of the most important formal events held on a college campus. No reservations or tickets are necessary. The public is invited to attend.
