Physical Therapy Program

Licensed PTA for 15 years with clinical experience in the areas of acute-inpatient, intensive care unit, transitional care unit, and acute rehab unit, outpatient (primarily neurological, vestibular, and pediatric patients). Maintains aquatic therapy certification from Aquatic Therapy and Rehabilitation Institute.

Completed professional training in the areas of best practices in teaching and learning, active learning and critical thinking strategies, problem-based learning, reading across the curriculum, content literacy, technology in the classroom, and curriculum design.

Medical Lab Technician

Karol Conrad holds a Master of Science degree from Murray State University and has been registered with the American Society of Clinical Pathologists as a Medical Technologist since 1983 and as a Specialist in Hematology since 1989. Beginning in 1990, she chaired the Medical Laboratory Technician program at Madisonville Technical College (MTC) and retained that position when MTC merged with Madisonville Community College (MCC) in 2001. In addition to serving as program chair, Ms. Conrad was selected Division Chair for the MCC Division of Allied Health in 2007 and presently serves concurrently in both capacities.

The Madisonville-Hopkins County Chamber of Commerce recognized her as its Educator of the Year in 1998, and in 2001, she represented MCC at the KCTCS President s Leadership Seminar. Prior to her employment at MCC, Ms. Conrad worked as a Medical Technologist at Welborn Baptist Hospital (1983), Deaconess Hospital (1983-1988), and St. Mary s Medical Center (part-time; 1992-1997), all in Evansville, Indiana. She also supervised the Hematology, Urinalysis and Phlebotomy departments at Trover Clinic (now Baptist Health) in Madisonville, Kentucky (1988-1990).

Occupational Therapy Assistant Program Director,

Mrs. Kim Qualls is a graduate of MCC s first OTA class in 1997. She worked as a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant at Trover Foundation for 5 years in acute rehab, acute care, and outpatient pediatrics. She earned a master s in Occupational Therapy from Belmont University in 2004 and returned to Trover to be the primary outpatient pediatrics OT.

She began as an adjunct for MCC in 2007 teaching the pediatrics course for the OTA program. Qualls became the program director for Madisonville Community College in January 2009. She has presented at the National American Occupational Therapy Association OTA Program Directors Council meeting in 2010 and 2013. She is also a member of the American Occupational Therapy Association (AOTA) and Kentucky Occupational Therapy Association (KOTA). At present she is the Western District Chair for KOTA.

Graduated from Eastern Kentucky University December 1995 with a Bachelor of Science in Occupational Therapy.

She has been National Board Certified in OT since February, 1996 and licensed in the state of Kentucky since April, 1996.

Misty has 17 years of clinical and educational experience, practicing mostly in acute and subacute settings. She joined the OTA program at MCC in the fall on 2011 as Academic Fieldwork Coordinator and an OTA instructor. Additionally Misty is a member of the Kentucky Occupational Therapy Association and the American Occupational Therapy Association.

Amanda graduated from the University of Evansville Masters of Physical Therapy Program in 2003 and is currently an instructor as well as the Academic Coordinator for Clinical Education for the Madisonville PTA program

Amanda has clinical experience in the acute, subacute, and long term care patient population. Prior to her current position Amanda served as a clinical instructor for nine years.

Amanda has extended competencies in managing the critically ill patient and in wound care. In addition she is member of the APTA and support the mission of professionalism within the field of Physical Therapy.

Program Director

Tonia Gibson graduated from Madisonville State Vocational Health Occupations School and Madisonville Community College in 1983 with a diploma and degree in Radiography. She also holds a Bachelor and Master of Science degrees from Murray State University in Career and Technical Education.

She is a Certified Radiographer and worked at Trover Clinic before coming to the college in 1990. She is presently the program director but has also held the position of clinical coordinator with the program. Tonia is an active member of the Kentucky Society of Radiologic Technologists, American Society of Radiologic Technologists, Association of Educators in Imaging and Radiologic Sciences, Association of Career and Technical Education and Health Occupations Students of America.

Clinical Coordinator

Relocated to Kentucky approximately 10 years ago from Northern Indiana. Her career began as a staff Radiographer in a large nonprofit hospital in Fort Wayne, Indiana, serving as a Clinical Instructor for the Radiography Program at the same hospital and later became the Clinical Coordinator for the School of Radiologic Technology. From there Paula moved on to the University of Saint Francis as Clinical Coordinator/faculty of the Radiography Program. At the University, she taught Radiographic Procedures, Radiographic Pathology and Radiation Protection and Biology for a number of years.

Certified Radiographer with advanced imaging certifications in Mammography and Quality Management, registered in good standing and licensed to practice in Kentucky. She has an Associate of Science Degree in Radiologic Technology from Indiana University, Fort Wayne, Indiana, a Bachelor of Science Degree in Biology from Ball State University, Muncie, Indiana and a Master Degree in Education from Indiana University, Fort Wayne, Indiana.

Paula is also an active member of several Imaging Professional organizations: Kentucky Society of Radiologic Technologists, American Society of Radiologic Technologists, Association of Educators in Imaging and Radiologic Sciences.

Mrs. Siddon s career began as an on the job trained therapist in Missouri. She later received her certificate and associate degree in Respiratory Therapy in Kentucky. She has worked in a variety of settings including acute care, home care, and patient education. She currently works full time at Madisonville Community College as the Respiratory Therapy Program Director. She also works as needed at Baptist Health in Madisonville. Tina Siddon has a bachelor s of integrated studies from Murray State University with a focus in Career and Technical Education. She is also currently working on a Master s Degree with Murray State University. Additionally, she serves as board member of the Kentucky Board of Respiratory Care and is also the Co-Director of Camp WonderKids, a day camp for children with asthma.

Hayes, Kelly

Kelly is a Registered Respiratory Therapist, a graduate of Murray State University, with over 25 years of clinical experience in the field, primarily in the acute hospital setting, with both adult critical care and neonatal intensive care, as well as the general adult, and pediatric populations. She holds certifications in ACLS, NALS, AND PALS (Advance Cardiac Life Support, Neonatal Advanced Life Support, and Pediatric Advance Life Support). She is an Assistant Professor Respiratory Care, on the Faculty of Madisonville Community College for 6 years, and Clinical Director of the Respiratory Care Program.

Jeff Bidwell graduated from the Madisonville Community College Surgical Technology Program in 1991, earned a AA degree from MCC in 1995, earned a BS degree from the University of Southern Indiana in 1997 and a Master s degree from Murray State University in 1999. Over the past 20+ years he has worked in all surgical areas with a specialty in Orthopedics.

Currently Jeff is the Director of the Surgical First Assisting and Surgical Technology Programs at the Madisonville Community College, instructor in European history and PRN Surgical Assistant with Baptist Health Orthopedic department in Madisonville. His is currently serving on the NBSTA Exam writing committee, NBSTSA Job's Task Analysis committee, Vice President of the Kentucky State Assembly of Surgical Technologists/Surgical Assistants, advisory role for the Kentucky Medical Boards Surgical Assisting committee and Chair of the Association of Surgical Assistants SA Core Revision committee. He has served as Chair of the SASA (Sub-Committee on Accreditation for Surgical Assisting), Chair of the Education and Professional Standards Committee for the Association of Surgical Technologists and Board Member for the ARCSTSA.

Tim Martin graduated from the MCC Health Technology paramedic program in 1995 then earned a Bachelors of Science from Mid-Continent University in Mayfield, KY in May of 2000. He later completed two Masters Degrees from Liberty Baptist Theological Seminary and Graduate School in Lynchburg, VA.

In addition to his educational experience Tim has worked in several program related fields. He has worked as a firefighter paramedic and paramedic at our local ambulance service and has also worked for 5 years in the emergency department at Baptist Health Regional Medical Center.

Aaron graduated from MCC s Surgical Technology program in 2011 obtaining the AAS degree as well as certification from the National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting. He returned to complete MCC s Surgical First Assisting program in 2013 obtaining certifications from the National Surgical Assisting Association as well as the Kentucky Board of Medical Licensure. He is also a member of the Association of Surgical Technologists and the National Commission for the Certification of Surgical Assistants. Prior to joining MCC, he worked at Baptist Health Madisonville in all areas of surgery with a specialty in Orthopedics.
