Madisonville Community College is pleased to participate in the following diversity activities:
The Governor's Minority Student College Preparation Program assists in addressing the issues of attrition, lower grade point averages, and undecided majors experienced by minority students. The summer enrichment program is geared toward minority middle school students and offers activies in math, reading, computer science, technical information, multicultural education, and the arts. The goal is to encourage students to remain in school and ultimately enroll in college.
Black Achievers – sponsored locally by YMCA, MCC, and the James Larmouth Family Resource Center – is a nationally-recognized program designed to help young African-Americans develop a positive sense of self and set high education and career goals through mentoring and scholarship initiatives. The program also recognizes minority adults who have achieved professional success and creates channels for business and industry to become involved in the community.
