Our Leadership

Madisonville Community College has been under the leadership of Dr. Judith Rhoads since July 1, 1998. During Dr. Rhoads’ tenure, MCC made the transition from the University of Kentucky Community College System to the newly-created Kentucky Community and Technical College System. In 2001, she oversaw the consolidation of Madisonville Community College and Madisonville Technical College. Most recently, she presided over the opening of the Brown Badgett, Sr. Energy and Advanced Technology Center, a 75,000-square-foot, state-of-the-art facility to house the college’s Applied Technology programs.

Several other initiatives are hallmarks of Dr. Rhoads’ administration, including:

  • Implementation of a Quality Enhancement Plan focused on improving critical thinking in MCC graduates. The Southern Association of Colleges and Schools called the plan “exemplary”.
  • Administration of federal grants from the Health Resources and Services Administration, National Science Foundation, and Department of Labor. Also administered three Title III Institutional Strengthening grants.
  • Partnering with Murray State University to increase the number and quality of bachelor’s degree offerings available to local residents through transfer degree and 2+2 agreements
  • Creation of the School Counts! program, ensuring that high school students who meet certain qualifications are guaranteed tuition to Madisonville Community College. This program was funded in part by the Fulfilling the Promise major gifts campaign.

Dr. Rhoads remains committed to creating new academic programs consistent with community needs, strengthening existing programs, and reaching out to the community and workforce, making MCC the college of choice for area students.
