School Counts! Eligibility in Hopkins County

To earn a School Counts! certificate you must:

  • Obtain a 2.5 GPA yearly
  • Achieve a 95% attendance and punctuality record
  • Complete high school in four consecutive years
  • Take more than the minimum number of credits required for graduation

School Counts! Hopkins County and Muhlenberg County Continuing Eligibility Guidelines 

  • Each student that completes the School Counts program is eligible for up to four semesters of awards, but students must use their scholarship funds within 5 semesters of high school graduation. 
  • School Counts is a last pay scholarship that pays unmet tuition expenses after all other awards have been subtracted from the tuition. Student loans are not used in this calculation.
  • Madisonville Community College currently awards up to 12 credit hours of unmet tuition need per student per semester in the School Counts! Hopkins County program. Currently, there is not a limit for School Counts! Muhlenberg County participants.
  • In order to maintain eligibility for the School Counts! Program students must:
    • Maintain Madisonville Community College as their home school
    • File the FAFSA every academic year
    • Complete any necessary Financial Aid processes such as verification
    • Maintain a 2.0 GPA or higher
    • Most students attend full-time attendance, but awards still cover part-time enrollment.
