Dual Credit Payment

One of the positive features about dual credit is its affordability. Through a statewide agreement between the Kentucky Community and Technical College System and the Kentucky Department of Education, all dual credit courses are assessed at a discounted tuition rate. The current tuition rate for Madisonville Community College is $155 per credit, already the lowest in the state.

Following are the dual credit waiver provisions associated with the Pathways to College Program:

  • All courses taught by high school and/or technical campus faculty have 100% tuition waivers. A $50 per student per registration period state fee is charged.
  • Jump Start Early College Program course general education classes taught on a MCC campus and online courses are assessed at one-half tuition.

In some cases, courses will also have additional charges that students must pay.

Textbooks for classes at the high school are provided by the high school, but students in Jump Start or online dual credit classes must provide their own textbooks.

Scholarship opportunities may be available to students. The Kentucky Higher Education Association Authority (KHEAA) provides dual credit students, particularly those who can demonstrate a financial need. Students interested in scholarships may apply online at KHEAA. Scholarships are awarded in the spring for the following year. In addition to scholarships, various school districts may assist dual credit students. Many students taking CTE classes earn scholarships through the Kentucky Junior Coal Academy, which pays the $50 registration fee.

Payments for tuition, charges, and fees are made through the MCC Business office by credit card or check. The most convenient method is to contact the business office by phone (270\824-1703) with a credit card. If paying by check please mail to:

Madisonville Community College,
c/o Business Office,
2000 College Drive,
Madisonville, KY 42431.

Also include the student's name and last 4-digits of SSN on the check memo line. Failure to make payment on time will result in the student being dropped from their class. Payments are nonrefundable. Students who fail to register for courses or who are dropped from their classes for nonpayment forfeit their dual credit opportunity.
