Dual Credit

Dual credits are earned by high school students taking college-level courses through MCC for which the college assumes the responsibility for the academic integrity of the courses.

Tuition is charged for these courses, but students receive either a full tuition waiver, and pay a modest $50 per registration period KCTCS fee or 50% tuition waiver for online or Jump Start in-person classes taught by college faculty.

Dual credit is awarded for all general education (English, math, or science classes), but is limited for career and technical education (CTE) such as welding, health science, business, etc. to the following class of students:

  • Seniors and
  • Project Lead the Way (STEM) juniors and seniors
  • Career exploratory courses such as NSG100, NAA100, ACT101, EDU110, OR CRJ102 which are not required by college program are not eligible for dual credit, but qualify for articulated credit.

Dual credit student credit is posted to their college transcript with the grade earned in the class. There are annual limits of 4 dual credit courses and 12 college credits.

Other students in the MCC Pathways to College Program can also earn articulated credit.
